What is the MYP programme?
Middle Years Programme (MYP)
The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) is designed for students in grades 7–10. It encourages academic challenge while helping students develop personally and socially.
MYP Curriculum Model
Students study eight subject groups with a minimum of 50 hours per subject each academic year. In years 4 and 5, students may select courses from six of the eight subject groups for greater flexibility.

Key Components of the MYP
Teaching and Learning in Context
Students learn best when their learning experiences are connected to their lives and the world. Using global contexts, students explore human identity, global challenges, and what it means to be internationally-minded.
Conceptual Understanding
Concepts are big ideas with relevance within and across disciplines. Students use concepts to inquire into personal, local, and global issues, examining knowledge holistically.
Approaches to Learning (ATL)
ATL is a unifying thread across all MYP subjects. It develops independent learning skills and the ability to apply knowledge in new contexts.
Service as Action
Learning by doing and contributing to the community are central values. Students apply classroom knowledge in real life, make positive differences, and complete the MYP community project.
Language and Identity
Students learn at least two languages (instruction + additional language). Language learning is key to intercultural understanding and identity development.
